NIGHTRIDER
6th June 2011
An exciting 130km moonlit bike ride through London, taking in some of the city's most famous sights

Participating in the renowned MND Association event, 'Nightrider,' was an exciting opportunity to hop back on my bike and pedal through London. Held on June 6, 2011, the event involved cycling a complete loop from Alexander Palace down to Crystal Palace and back, showcasing many of London's landmarks along the way, amidst the hustle and bustle of late-night revellers.
The plan was to ride to the start line, just a short 15-mile journey from home, meet fellow riders supporting their own charities, and set off shortly after 11 pm, aiming to return before sunrise the next day.
Arriving with just two minutes to spare, after a slight detour, we met up with Dom, Alan, Jack, Lawrence, and Stew, forming our own impromptu Tour de Londres.
The event proved challenging, with two steep hills flanking the river. Despite Lawrence's bike chain snapping less than a mile from the finish line, it was a true team effort to ensure everyone crossed the line and enjoyed their well-deserved bacon sandwiches. It was an incredibly enjoyable experience, and I highly recommend it to others.
" Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations."
